Learning Objectives this week:
The student will apply active reading strategies to answer comprehension questions about their reading. They will use context clues, dictionaries, and thesauruses to determine the meaning of words. The students will review affixes and will take notes on commonly used affixes to aid in vocabulary definitions. They will follow the writing process to write a personal narrative. They will use their brainstorming graphic organizer to narrow focus and begin drafting, revising, and editing their essays. During the revision of their personal narrative, they will add proper transitional words and phrases as well as include compound sentences to enhance their narrative.
Monday, November 8th

· Personal Narrative – use “The Times of my Life” graphic organizer to narrow down topic for essay. Begin rough draft of personal narrative.
· On Level:
o Earliest Memory Poem
o Anticipatory set for novel study (Fever 1793)– discussion about yellow fever and make inferences and draw conclusions based on information provided.
· Pre AP: Anticipatory set for novel study – teaching tolerance discussion and writing activity to introduce novel (The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe)
Tuesday, November 9th – RETEACH (before school in my room)/RETEST (after school in Mrs. Edmond’s room) TODAY ONLY!
